This project involves replacing the existing bridge that carries Boot Road over Amtrak. Proposed work also includes approach roadway reconstruction, guide rail and drainage improvements and intersection improvements at the intersection of Boot Road and Quarry Road.
The existing structure will be replaced on the existing horizontal alignment with a slight raise to the profile grade to provide additional clearance over Amtrak’s facilities. The existing 193-foot, 3-span structure will be replaced with a 105-foot single span structure. The proposed structure width will match the existing width (38 feet).
Intersection improvements include widening Quarry Road and Boot Road to incorporate left-turn lanes on three legs of the intersection, replacement of traffic signal equipment, and minor drainage improvements.
Eastbound Boot Road traffic will be detoured for most of the construction period (duration approximately 20 months).
Westbound Boot Road traffic will be maintained for the duration of the construction period.
