East Caln Township Supervisors, Don Ash, Joel Swisher and Chuck Delone announced today that, in light of the economic hardships created by the Covid-19 virus and the resulting wide spread economic displacement, they will waive the minimum sewer charge for the current quarter for all residences and businesses in the Township. When asked why the Township had decided to take this action, Don Ash, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors said, “We considered waiving the late fee for real estate taxes as the County and many other townships have done, but recognized that that would only help a minority of our residents and none of our businesses. For homes which have mortgages, which is the overwhelming majority of the homes in East Caln, the taxes are paid by the mortgage company and waiving the late fee would not provide any real benefit. The waived sewer charge for the current quarter will provide a real benefit of $45 for virtually every residence and business in the Township.”
